As an OEM focusing on casual jeans, DOORS has started making environment friendly material as a contribution to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) movement. Bio-stretch denim being one of them. Commonly, about 1% to 5% of polyurethane chemical fiber is required to produce stretch denim fabric, but this time we utilize ROICA®V550, biodegradable stretch fiber developed by Asahi Kasei.
Hohenstein, a German research institute has also confirmed that this fiber has the ability to slowly biodegrade in an microbially active soil and environment before decomposing into carbon dioxide and water without generating any harmful substances to the environment. After processing ROICA® V550 fiber at MASUI Co., Ltd., at thread factory, and with the cooperation of Hishitomo Shoji Co., Ltd., we managed to make the first bio-stretch denim fabric in Japan. Howa Co., Ltd., also cooperated with us to test any possible problems with the fabric during washing/processing and we are delighted to inform that we obtained a satisfying result. ※ROICA® (Premium Stretch Fiber) is a registered trademark of Asahi Kasei.
